Human Rights Poster
For my human rights poster, I chose article 18 from the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The main focus of article 18 is "Everyone has the right to freedom of thought." In George Orwell's 1984, there is a secret police called the Thought Police, where they arrest, detain, and torture people because they think certain things. This is a violation of human rights because no one in the book has the freedom to think what they want. If we did not have this basic human right, 1984, would be our consequence. No one would be able to think freely and everyone would be too afraid to try and be different. Without our freedom of thought, society wouldn't be as advanced as we are right now. Charles Darwin took 30 years to finally publish his evolution of theory because of his fear of being ridiculed for thinking differently.
